active care. The board ap-
proved a bid item from
Janie Graves, Tax Assessor
to accept bid from Vernon
McLemore for property af-
ter rejecting a previous bid
due to non-payment.
The board voted to re-
scind the previously ap-
proved sick leave policy al-
lowing accumulation of lo-
cal sick days up to 30 days
for each staff member to
earn five days a year above
their regular sick leave. The
old policy had the potential
of costing the district
$360,000 if all personnel
used their accumulated
days. At the time the policy
was adopted, it was not fi-
nancially sound to adopt this
policy because of potential
cost. Dr. Moore said, “The
board and superintendent
will be sympathetic to any
employee that has a cata-
strophic illness.” Under this
same business item, the
board gave the superinten-
dent the authority to consult
with the district’s attorney
concerning sick leave
policy, which will be pre-
sented to the board for its
consideration.
Another action taken
was the approval of submit-
ting a competitive Compre-
hensive School Reform
Grant. If the district re-
ceives the grant, it will pro-
vide funds in the amount of
$90,000 to $ 100,000 a year
