One man killed, 7 injured in
2-vehicle accident on Hwy 35
A Palacios man was killed and seven other
persons, including three young children, were
injured in a grinding two vehicle crash on the
Hwy 35 curve just inside Palacios’ west city
limits last Monday (Nov. 5) afternoon.
Pronounced dead at the scene by Pet. 3 Justice
of the Peace Jerry Purvis was Gregorio Morales,
58, of Palacios.
Injured were Cory Christopher Saha, 19,
of Clute; Stacey Constancio, 20, of Palacios;
Patrick Zamora, 35, of Port Lavaca; Stephanie
Constancio, age unknown; and three children,
ages 3, 4 and 1-year.
According to Police Chief David Miles, the
accident occurred just before 2 p.m. Morales,
alone in a 2005 Chevrolet van, was eastbound
into Palacios. All of the injured persons were
in a westbound 2005 Ford Explorer, driven
by Saha.
Chief Miles said exact details of accident re-
mained under investigation, but that it appeared
that Saha may have either lost control coming
around the curve or was somehow distracted.
The two vehicles collided near the shoulder of
the east bound (Morales’) lane.
Chief Miles reported that Stacey Constancio
and one of the children were life-flighted to
Citizens Medical Center in Victoria.
The other injured were taken by ambulance
to either Palacios Community Medical Center
or Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay
City.
THE crushed remains of a Ford Explorer pickup (foregound) and a Chevrolet van in
the background came to rest on the side of Hwy 35 South after a collision last Monday
(Nov. 5). The accident claimed the life of one man and injured seven others. (Beacon

Citizens speak out against termination of P.A. Neese
BY RYAN G. WEST
Palacios Beacon Staff Writer_
A strong contingent of Palacians made their dis-
content and displeasure known with the recent and
abrupt termination of Palacios’ long time health
care provider, PA. John Neese, at last Thursday’s
meeting of the Board of Directors of the Palacios
Community Medical Clinic (PCMC).
Some 50 or so citizens, young and old alike,
crowded the halls outside of the PCMC Hyett Con-
ference Room, as only 10 persons at a time were
allowed into the Board room, and those who wished
to address the Board were granted 3 minutes to voice
their comments or concerns.
Before any comments were made, PCMC Board
member Gail Purvis read a statement regarding PA.
Neese and his subsequent termination:
“The decision to terminate John Neese was dif-
ficult for each one of us, and not taken lightly. But
we felt, under the circumstances, it was made in
the best interest of the hospital and this community.
The decision was not made because of a concern
for John’s ability as a medical provider, not at all.
There are two sides to every story, and be assured
the Palacios Hospital and Clinic are prepared and
ready to handle your medical needs. We wish the best
for John and hope he can establish another clinic in
this community to serve his patients. ”
Below are a few of the comments directed at the
PCMC Board and Administration:
Erika Solis Hernandez said, “I believe the Board’s
decision to fire (Neese) was the dumbest decision they
could make. He is a (expletive) good P.A.; the best
we’ve ever had in Palacios. I believe it’s ridiculous
