Met April 1 at
Mrs. Dick Wynne
The Woman’s Study Club met at
the home of Mrs. Dick Wynne on
Friday, April 1st. The reception
rooms were decorated throughout
with Easter lilies and other decora-
tions symbolizing the pre-Easter
season.
Mrs. Roy J. Watson was leader of
the Southern program. Guest art-
ists were James Wester, who sang
“Old Man River”, accompanied by
Mrs. H .G. Windham and Miss Sue
Hughey and Douglas Glandon who
sang two number, "Carry Me Back
to Old Virginia” and "Silver Threads
Among the Gold." their accom-
panist was Miss Willie Mae Rowe.
Mr. Watson presented films of the
"Evangeline Land” of the deep
South. During the social hour, the
hostess was assisted by her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Jimmie Alderdice and Mrs.
Farrar.
Guests were Mrs. C. F. Farrar,
Mrs. Randall Farrar, Mrs. E M.
Bardwell, Mrs. Naomi Stacks, Miss
Rowe of Ennis, and Mrs. Alderdice
of Waxahachie.
Garden Club
Met Thursday
Palmer Garden Club met in the
home or Mrs. Dick Wynne on
Thursday, March 31, at three in
the afternoon.
A very interesting program was
enjoyed by the members'

A lengthy business session follow-
ed a delicious refreshment plate
which was served by the hostess,

Father and Son
Banquet April 1
The Palmer Chapter of the Fu-
ture Farmers of America had their
annual "Father and Son Banquet."
Friday night April 1, in the High
School Lunch Room. The theme of
the Bamquet was “El Peon's Cafe."
The banquet got underway with
an invocation by Mr. Roy J. Wat-
son, followed by the meal consis-
ting of tamales, enchlladot, Mexi
can beans, combination salad, tor-
tillas, butter, pralines and tea,
served by the eighth grade girls.
Following the meal the officers of
the chapter gave the opening cere-
mony. The president turned the
program over to the Master of
Ceremonies, Douglas Gladon, and
he introduced the following ac-
tivities for the evening:
Welcome by Charles Autrey, res-
jxmse by Lester Ej»ps, introduction
of dads and guests by each boy,
history of the FFA by Donald Mc-
Manus, the FFA Creed by Jessie
Navarro, reports and achievements
of Palmer FFA by Harold Adams.
We then had a FFA film on the
25th Anniversary of the FFFA. Af-
ter the film the Chapter Officers

Austin, Tex. (UP). — The, Texas
Senate has aiiproved and sent to
the House legislation supplanting
the present three-member board of
T«ixas Water Engineers with a six-
inan. Texas Water Commission. The
new commission would be armed
with broad authority to administer
the water laws of the state.

made by the Texas water resources

Tills is another of a scries of arti-
cles about the characters of the
senior class play. Tills week we are
featuring Patsy Harper, Janice An-
thony and Marva Bardwell.
Patsy Harper Is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs Charles Harper of
Palmer. She Is an outstanding mem-
ber of the senior class as well as
other organizations. She was the
most popular girl last year elected
by the student body. Patsy was the
Halloween queen thte year. She has
been a majorette the last two years
She has been a member of the girls
basketball team for four years, win-
ning the girls athletic pin the last
two years. She has been outstand-
ing in the Homemaking Club, win-
ning Who’s Wiio in 1953. Patsy Is a
member of the /Methodist Church
of Palmer. She was a member of
the junior play last year and also
the senior play. Patsy will play the
part of “Mrs. Dean" in the forth-
coming senior play, "The Little
Shepherd of Kingdom Come”. She
is careful about the way her chil-
dren act and behave. She doesn't
allow her children to associate with
the poor class of people in the “Lit-
tle Shepherd of Kingdom Come.”
She speaks in a high class tone of
voice.
Janice Anthony is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Anthony of
Palmer. Janice is an outstanding
student in Palmer High School.
She was the football sweetheart her
freshman year elected by the foot-
ball boys. She Ls entering her pic-
ture in the beauty contest this year
■for the most beautiful girl She was
FFA sweetheart her sophomore
year. Janice lias been a membei of
the Homemaking Club lor three
years. She has been a member of
the annual staff for three years,
being a member of the cast of the
library play this year and also last
year- Janice is a member of the
Church of Christ of Palmer Janice
will play the part of "Margaret
Doan" in the senior class play. "Thy
Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come."
She is tiie daughter of Mrs. Dean,
played by Patsy Harper.
Marva Bardwell is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. E. M Bardwell of
Palmer. Marva is secretary of the
senior class this year. She was a
class favorite her Junior year She
has been a member of the Home-
making Club for three years She
has been a member of the annual
staff two years. She has been a
member of the girls basketball
team for four years. Tins year Mar-
va was selected from the student
body of Palmer High School by the
football team as their sweetheart
She has also been a majorette for
two years. Marva Is an active mem-
ber of the First Christian Church
of Palmer. In our play. ‘‘Th*> Little
Shepherd of Kingdom Come”.
Marva will play the part of a young
poetess, “Jennie."

into the club: Mrs. Charles Winford
and Mrs. Malcolm Prince. The club
also welcomed a guest, Mrs. Roger
Harper.
During the business meeting new
officers were elected for the coming
year They were: Mrs. Raymond
Caldwell, president; Mrs. Russell
Livingston, first vice president; Mrs.
Pete Hollemau, second vice presi-
dent, and Mrs. Lester Epps, third
vice president; Mrs. Duane Potter,
secretary and treasurer; Mrs. Wal-
lace Hughey, reporter, and Mrs.
Louis McClain as parliamentarian.
After the business meeting, Mrs.
Louis McClain gave a very interest-
ing talk on the life of "Prince
Charles."
Refreshments were served and
the club adjourned to meet again
next week with the annual lunch-
eon.

Inter Church
Youth Fellowship
Met Sunday
The Inter-Church Youth Fellow-
ship met Sunday night. March 27,
at 8:15 at the Christian Church.
There were thirty-two members
present representing the Baptist,
Methodist and Christian Churches.
The meeting was called together
with a hymn, followed by the reg-
ular thirty minute song service. The
business meeting was called to or-
der by Douglas Glandon, president
of the ICYF, at which time It was
decided that because of Easter Sun-
day the ICYF will meet again in
three weeks on April 17 at the
Methodist Church-
The Baptist Church led the group
in a couple of interesting games.
Refreshments of cookies and hot-
chocolate were served by the Chris-
tian Church. The pastor of the
Mrtliodist Church, Reverend Crow,
gave a devotional on "The Resist-
ance of Temptation" during the
worship period. All people from
each church In our worship period.
