Suppose Texas had cotton mills
to manufacture all of the cotton
Texas produces The people of
Texas would save the cost of trans-
porting cotton from this State to
the Now England or Liverpool
mills and that could be added to
the price the farmer now receive
for it which
would make some-
thing like 5 a bale at the lowest
estimate Then if
the cotton grow-
ers were interested in the manu
facture of cotton they would reap
the profit of manufacturing which
is much larger than the profit of
producing andtoothey would save
the middlemans profit on cotton
cloth and the freight charges for
transporting the cloth to Texas
The cotton grower is more inter
ested in tho eotton mills than is
anyone else More cotton mills
mean more money in the pockets
of the cotton grower Sherman
Register
Yes and the cotton grower the
moneyed men and the merchants
should strive to build more mills
in TexaB and Marion county
