AIDS Memorial Quilt
As many as 600 volunteers arc needed to help with the
NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt to be shown
from 10 a.m. to 7 p.rn. June 16-18 at the Henry B.
Gonzalez Convention Ccntcrin San Antonio. More than
2,000 panels from the national 12,000-pancl quilt and
miles of walkways must be installed across the entire
convention center floor. To volunteer, call the NAMES

NCCJ Youth Council
At its May 22 meeting the National Conference of
Christians and Jews Youth Council elected officers for
the 1990-91 school year: Elvin Rose, Del Mar College,
president: Karen Kelm, King High School, vice-presi-
dent; Squire Earle, King H.S., recording and corre-
sponding secretaries; Elvin Rose, Del Mar, Rebecca
Leonard, Gregory-Portland H.S., and Kevin Laudadio,
Incarnate Word Academy, corresponding secretaries;
and Denise Viera, Sandra Marie Gutierrez and Elvin
Rose, all from Del Mar, program chairpersons.
Freedom Sale
A Freedom Sale will be held June 8 and 9 from 8 a.m,
to6 p.m. atSs. Cyril and Methodius Church in Corpus
Christi (in the Msgr, Kaspar Hall on Kostoryz St.). The
purpose of the sale is to allow people to give away items
of importance they have become attached to, so they can
be sold to those who might need them. The money will
be used to further the efforts of Body of Christ Rescue.

Tutor Training Workshops
One out of every five adults living in Corpus Christi is
functionally illiterate. You can help in the effort to
overcome illiteracy by becoming a volunteer tutor. The
Corpus Christi Literacy Council has scheduled Tutor
Training Workshops on June 8 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and
June9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m, in the LaRciamaRoom
of the Central Public Library, 805 Comanche. An orien-
tation to the Laubach Way to Reading will be held on
June 2 from 11 a.m. to noon in the same location. Call
the Literacy Council Office at 880-7081.

The annual Cancer Survivors' Picnic will be held

Spring festival
Archbishop Oscar Romero Junior High School will
hold its annual spring festival June 3 from 10a.m. to6
p.m. at 2121 Mary Street (next to St. Joseph's Church)
Channel 3 Domingo Show will broadcast live on loca-
tion. There will be barbecued chicken with all the
trimmings lor S3.50 per plate, a raffle, food booths,
horse rides, games and much more. For further infor-

Holy Name
The 10th AnnualSuitc Convention of the Holy Name

Rev. Brendan Ashe has been appointed Pricst-in-
Chargc of Sacred Heart Church, Three Rivers, with his
official residence at St. George’s Rectory, George West,
effective July 5, 1990.
Rev. Francis Stodola has been released of his assign-
ment as Parochial Vicar of Blessed Sacrament Church,
Laredo, Texas, and has been appointed to the faculty of
Corpus Christi Academy, and as Parochial Vicar of
Most Precious Blood Church, Corpus Christi, Texas,
effective Apg. I, 1990.
Rev. Zenon Konowalek has been released or his
assignment as Parochial Vicar at St. George Church,
George West: and Sacred Heart Church, Three Rivers.
Father Konowalek has been appointed Parochial Vicar
at St, Theresa of the Infani Jesus Church, Premont,
Texas, effective July 5, 1990.
Rev. Henry Van de Casteele, OMI, has been ap-
pointed Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church,
Laredo, Texas, effective June 15, 1990.
Rev. Pasquale Lanese, OM I, has been released of his
appointment as Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupuc
Church, Laredo, Texas, effective June 15,1990.
Rev. David Ellis, OMI, has been released of his
appointment as Parochial VicaralHoly Family Church,
Corpus Christi, Texas, effective June 15, 1990.
Rev. Randy Cain has been appointed Diocesan Fa-
cilitator to the Divorced and Separated Ministry Team,
effective immediately.
