Gospel of Work
Some thoughts suggested by
t Prof. Wolfe in his address yester-
1 day will bear emphasizing. He
. said that what the boy needed to
have impressed upon him was that
- the greatest thing in Ufe is work—
the finding of tbe right work and
the doing of it to the utmost of his
’ ability. ;v \
It Is not enough, he said, that
the boy should be tanght that he
t should remember the Sabbath day
to keep it holy, but (hat he could
be taught that it was jnst as im-
perative that he should labor on
the other six days in tbe week.
That labor is honorable for all and
idleness the reveree. That only
tbe best work is hooorable, how-
ever. No matter what the boy
decides to do, inspire him with the
Idea that he can only honor him-
self by doing tbe'best.
These are old troths, bat truths
that cannot be too strongly im-
pressed on the boys of this day and
age. The tendency of the times is
the other way. The ambition of
most is for an “easy snap/’ a sine-
care, where the yoang man may
draw the maximum of salary for
the minimum of work. Tbe boys
need training and teaching of an-
other sort. The maximum of ser-
?
vice, the very best of service, should
be tbe ideal. Much can be done
tor the future of the boy if he can
only be impressed with the ambi-
tion to do something great, no
