bird faithful mate... the very
last we taw of them, he walk-
ed with hei till they timed to
a bed of loaves to bathe the
mud off,.. spring must be hete
and best wishes, not only

steps of the Capitol were wit-
nessed this week. One group
favoring a strung utilities com-
mission in Texas and another
group favoring the repeal of
the Equal Rights Amendment
of the Texas Constitution as
well as the state's ratification
of the U,S, Amendment net,
heard speeches, sang songs,
displayed placards, and gene-
rally had an "old- fashioned
good time . Everyone was or-
derly, and the groups were
fine examples of Amerlcan
democracy in action.

Terrell resident, died in a lo-
cal hospital late Thursday
night following a ahn* illness.

He was barn in Rains County
on Jan. 16, 1906, He grew up
here, and was s Wildcat foot-
ball player. He later lived in
Denlton and Greenville before
moving to Terrell in 1928. He
war employed at the Terrell
Post Office until his retirement
in 1970 and since that time has
been a part-time employee of
the Terrell phatmacy,
A member of the Pint Baptist
Church, he was also a member
of the Hammond Sunday school
class. He was a member of Ar-
tesla Lodge No. 400 Ar 4 AM.

Scottish Rite Bodies, and the

He was married to Mias Oda -
lane Moore on May 3, 1928 and

Surviving him are: his wife,
Odie Bullock ot Terrell; one
son, James R. Bullock of Irv-
ing; two grandchildren, Bradley
Bullock and Lara Bullock both
of Irving; Ills mother, Mrs. Lon-
nie Bullock of Dallas; one sis-
ter, Lois Bernays of Dallas; one
brother. Jack Bullock of Dallas;
a number of nieces and nephews
and other relatives.

state of Texas, and I am proud
to lend support to thia viully-
needed program.
Bi-Centennial ceremonies
are being planned by every
county in Texas, with local
groups and cltizaos taking the
lead In the queer for a suitable
recognition of the United
Stater' 200th anniversary. It
was my pleasure to participate
in the bi-centanniil ceremon-
ies in Sulphur Springs last
wfiSk and to ifiv-ili difi hialuii
cal events of nearly two cen-
turies ago. Other communities
In Hopktns, Hunt and Rains
Counties will contribute sub-
stantially to the meaning of
this anniversary, and hopeful-
ly Lite State will aid in the
costs incurred by the commun-
ities involved.
Appropriations for East Texas
State University will once
again be discussed before the
Appropriations Committee this
week. I look forward to repre-
senting this great educational
institution in its requests ior
operational funds for the com-
ing two yean.
I was able to discuss several
items of legislation with the
Governor this week in the Gov-
ernor's mansion. All 31 fresh-
man members were Invited to
lunch by the Governor, where
I with him the vari-
ous educational programs that
I felt were needed hi Texas.
Governor Briscoe was very re-
ceptive to (he suggestions and
ideas ol all of us that attended
the luncheon.
Easter recess in the Capitol
will allow me to visit with
many friends in the district
and to receive input as to the
thoughts of the people back
home concerning the many
bills that will be voted uu by
the House. A new record of
bills to be introduced in any
one regular sesitcn of the Tex-
as Legislature was sei this term
with 2,189 bills, with a dead-
line for liiuoduung new bills
having passed on Much 14th.
