Frazier twin brothers battle diabetes together
By JAY HINTON
burlesonstar@thestargroup.com
Four to to times a day,
8-year-old Frazier Elemen-
tary twins Aiden and Asa
Fuselier are reminded they
are just a little bit different
than their friends.
Last year, Aiden and
Asa’s mother, Rhonda, who
has been a nurse for 16
years, starting seeing the
signs and putting it together
that Aiden was ill.
Mood swings, weight loss
and blurred vision, Rhonda
said, all pointed to the possibil-
ity Aiden had Type l diabetes.
“I pretty much knew at
that point that it was what
he had, but I was hoping I
was wrong,” she said.
After she noticed he lost
three pounds - more than five
percent of his body weight -
she took him to the doctor
and, a couple of days later,
her hunch was confirmed.
“It was a complete stir-
up of our world,” she said.
Type l diabetes affects a
person’s pancreas and stops
it from producing insulin.
According to Juvenile Dia-
betes Research Foundation,
26 million people in the U.S.
have Type 1 diabetes and
15 percent of them are chil-
dren.
Aiden spent three days in
the hospital while his blood
sugar stabilized. At the same
time, the family got a crash
course on how to deal with
the disease, which is diag-
nosed in 15,000 children in
the U.S. each year.
At the same time, Rhon-
da’s attention shifted to Asa.
Doctors told her an identical
twin has a 10 percent chance
of being diagnosed in the
first year of a twin being di-
agnosed and a 50 percent burleson star/courtesy photo

Keene used to manu-
facture more stick hors-
es than any place in the
world. Now, a business
wants to push an elephant
through a garden hose.

partnership with So-
vee, is hoping to build
a 50,000-square-foot,
three-story building in
Keene that will generate
an annual revenue of $25
million and employ 30-
35 people, the company’s
CEO, John Williams told
a meeting of the Keene
Health Facilities Develop-
ment Corporation Thurs-
day night at City Hall.
The building would
be called the Jewel Tech-

Burleson and Alvarado, will
donate $2 from every $22
combination ticket sold this

Sabre ruled
accidental
By PAUL GNADT
paulgnadt@thestargroup.com
Sabre Industries in Alvarado closed Monday so
employees could attend the funeral of longtime em-
ployee William Roy Campbell.
Campbell, 56, was found un-
responsive by fellow workers early
Thursday at the start of the first
shift. Johnson County Sheriffs Of-
fice deputies and CareFlite person-
nel responded. Campbell was pro-
nounced dead at 7:58 a.m. by the
emergency medical responders.
“No one saw the accident, so
we don’t know what happened,”
said Carey Ellinghaus, Vice Presi-
dent for Human Resources.
The plant immediately closed for the day.
Although the Tarrant County Medical Examin-
er has ruled the death an accident caused by blunt
force trauma to the head as a result of a crane, Sa-
bre has asked the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration to also conduct an investigation.
“This is a tragedy,” Ellinghaus said. “We are
grieving.”
Campbell is survived by his wife, Paula Knight
Campbell, two daughters, two stepdaughters and
one stepson.
The funeral took place Monday at Harvest As-
sembly of God Church in Fort Worth. Interment
was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
