in Pig Show
Eldaroy Barks won first prize, a
registered Jersey heifer, in the Pig
show for the 4 H dub bays held
at Clarksville Monday morning,
and entitles him to enter his pig
in the district show at Paris Fri-
day, Oct, 19 Toney Chance was
the second prize winner, 125 baby
chicks.
Other winners were John Tur-
ner, Fulbright; Chas. Riley Up-
ch irch, Uoxelder, and Billy Lati-
mer, Avery

v;ce The pigs were given so the
boys about June 1st and are six
and seven months o'd. They will
be bred next month to a boar be-
longing to Alvin Bitrd Jr at Box
elder and the choice gilt ot each

in Car Wreck
Mrs Annie Williams received a
letter from her son, Lt. Ernest J.
Williams who received his discharge
from the Army at Chanute Field,
III., and left that place in a car
for St. Louis with a friend and
had gone only a short distance
when a truck drove out of a side
road in front of them and a colli-
sion was unavoidable.
They were carried to the hospi-
tal at Chanute Field, where Wil-
liams was found to have suffered
only minor injuries. His friend re-
ceived wounds which required an
operation on his knee. He ex-
pects to be at home in a few days.

will be necessary to use rented
steel chairs for several weeks per-

H D. Latimer received a mes-
sage Monday from Mrs Philip W.
Latimer that her husband, Capt.
Phi!:p W. Latimer, had landed at
Norfolk, Va . and would be in San
Antonio Thursday or Friday.
Capt Latimer was in the Euro
pean Sector.
A message was received here
that St. Sgt. Herbert F. Thompson
had landed in Seattle, Wash., en
route to San Antonio, and expects
to be home in about two weeks.

CpI. Chis. Hudson received his
discharge from the Army Monday
at SAATSC, San Antonio, after
two years and five months of ser-
vice, and has returned home.

Clarksville received a me—gf fro—
the War Department stating their
son, Pfc. John W. Hulen, had
died September 27 fro— acciden-
tal wounds.
Pfc Hulen was serving in the
Army of Occupation in Germany
at the time of the accident and
had been overseas since December
1944.
He is a nephew of Mr. and
Mrs. Luther Hulen.
