Weg| Premont Field
Activity in the YY’est Pre-
mont field has taken an a com
plexion that justifies the as-
sumption that the oil men
operating in that field are tak-
ing as their slogan “minnows
are safe, we are out for
whales”, since locations have
been made that in the event
all goes well, will extend the
liold a mile and a half west
land over a mile south of any
present production. The Mag-
nolia has dug pits on their lo-

faith in that territory as hav-

to go to the 8,000 foot depth.
The Glasscock well that failed
to produce in the upper sands
as we chronicled last week,
has been drilled to the 3,100
foot sands and has been per-1
forated. It is expected in this
week. Tom Graham’s Laugh-1

The Falfurrias Mercantile

perwein, the world’s greatest
rifle shot will stage an exhibi-
tion here April 22. Mr. Top-
perwein has established so
many records and has made
fixed to pull their old casing
and drill to a deeper depth.
Rumor has it that another
company is negotiating for
some leases in the Alta Verde
section which if consumated,
they will drill to a deeper
depth than any wells have
been in some years in that
field.
Alta Mesa Field
The Standard of Texas is
drilling two wells in the Alta
Alesa field and another well
some seven miles north of
their present production. The
Standard of Texas has seven
producing oil wells and one
gasser in the Alta Mesa field
and have yet to abandon a
well as dry in that section.
This week quite a lot of wire
arrived for a telephone line
they are running from Rachal
to the Alta Mesa field. As we
have before stated, the Stan-
dard of Texas is quietly going
forward in developments and
have not confined their drill-
ing to off-set wells hut have
jumped in instances as much
as a mile from production and
successfully drilled in produc-
ers. We are advised that the
known producing area in the
AItti Alesa field is about lV*
miles square. A rumor was a-
float that the deep test being
drilled by Lauflin Bros, had
encountered some highly in-
teresting structure although
that well is reported to be
down but some 1700 feet.
This d< ep test is scheduled to
be drilled to 8.000 foot depth
unless production of volume is
encountered at a lesser depth.
The operations of the Stan-
dard of Texas if they con-
tinue to be as successful as
they have been since coming
into the Alta Mesa field, will
very likely find a number of
other major oil companies
drilling in that section within
a short time.

Dr Barker has spoken to

The dates set for the Heart’s

are April 30 and May 1. This
Tournament has become one
of the near Classic sporting
events of South Texas. Today
invitations to 40 schools were
posted and since the atten-

be the largest we have ever
had, the problem of locating
rooms for the contestants de-
mands the attention of all in-

school. No doubt rooms in

took the Jerseys into their

no doubt the local fans will be
on hand to help run up a score
with a total that will give the
Jerseys an edge in the Laredo
team.
