fighters (a FW.190) at 17,000 feet recently over France, its pilot. Sergeant
Robson of New Zealand, saw the abova remarkable picture sequence as it
was photographed by his automatic camara: (1) the cockpit hood flew off,
(3) the pilot’s helmet flew out, (3) and (4) the enemy plana fell away
with one wing down.
In the first five months of this year, these R.A.F. daylight fighters
swept over enemy occupied country, destroyed the equivalent of 13 com-
plete enemy fighter squadrons. This continual drain on Nati air strength

Election On July 25 To Be Factor
In Choosing New County Officials
Brooks county politics entered the final stage this week
as rival candidates made the closing rounds in their :'i*<
of prospective voters who will decide what office hold ers are
to administer the affairs of the county for the ensuing two
years.
Since not more than two candidates oppose each other
in the various elective offices, the July 25 Democratic Primary
will prove the decisive factor in nominating candidates who
will enter the November general election.
Only present major encumbents who are not opposed are
Judge J. M. Brooks, County Attorney Sam G. Reams, Com-
missioner Richard G. Cage of Precinct No. 4 and Commission-
er Earl Young of Precinct No. 2.
In comparison with previous elections, the 1942 campaign
has been comparatively brief, with only a few isolated in-
stances of serious flareups of bitter charges and counter
charges.
On the state ticket, main interest locally is manifested
in the race for United States Senator, governor and railroad
commissioner. No “straw votes” were reported taken in Bro-
oks county and the outcome at best is purely conjee^,
