J. J. Gallaher' of Graham was
named most outstanding director of
the Vaat, Taras Chamber of Com-
merce Thursday by J, S. Bridwell of
Wichita Falls, president of the re-
gional chamber, which is meeting
in Mineral Wells this week.
Other annual r’awards announced
were: best membership jtown, Tahoka;
most outstanding secretary. Bill
Collyne of the Midland Chamber.
The awards will be presented for-
mally at a banquet tonight at the
Baker Hotel.
Gallaher has a long record of ac-
tive service in the WTC(\_as well
as in local activities. He is a form-
er mayor of Graham. ■ He is at pres-
ent chairman of the local selective
service. board for Young county.
AUSTIN.—Final passage has been
given several bills which now go to
Governor O’Daniel for his signature
to finally become law.
Final passage has been given in
the Senate to Representative James
Y Taylor’s House
bill, amending
publications law to rewrite the sec-
tions defining newspapers and re-
quiring publications of designated
legal notices instead of tacking not-
ices on the court house door.
Under the bill the law is made
positive that publication of legals
should be made in newspapers un-
less the rates demanded exceed
those fixed as maximum in the bill,
being 2c per word for the first in-
sertion and lc per WoW for all sub-
sertions.
