Oscar Waller Martin, sun of
Mrs. Walter Martin and the late
Dr. Martin formerly of Dallas,
died December 9 at his home in
Adam City, Colo. Funeral ser-
vices were held in Dallas Dec. IX
at 10 a. m.
Survivors are his molner, one
sister. Dr. Tom Shires and a bro-
ther, Dr. Wayne Tvans Martin.
Martin was born Dec. 23, 1920
and lived most of his life in Dal-
las, where his father practiced
medicine. He was * 1 a nephew of
Mrs. W. O. Westbrook and Mrs.
Claud Barham of Deport.

be tela in scripture and 6ong
Sunday evening at 5 p. m. at the
Deport Presbyterian Church.
Choirs from both churches will
present the annual Christmas
program. Rev. Gary Lindlcy
will uct as narrator. Rev. Sam
Rice, host pastor, will assist with
the service. Russell Grant will
direct the music with Mrs. Rus-
sell Lawler, organist.
A candlelighting service by the
congregation will conclud.* the
service. The public is cordially
invited to attend this special pro-
gram.

Christmas Holidays
Prairiland High School, Deport
Elementary and lllo-som Elemen-
tary Schools will dismiss for
Christmas holidays at 1 p. m
Tuesday. Dec. 22. Classes will
resume Jan. 4.
College students in this area
will have a longer holiday as
they complete the fall term be-
fore dismissing for Christmas.
Spring semester begins about
January 14 for most colleges.

Methodist Youth
A Live Nativity trill be pre-
sented Sunday at S p. m on the
lawn at the Presbyterian Church.
The United Methodist Youth Fel-
lowship will present the pro-

The free Polio Clinic will b_*
held Thursday, Dec. 17 at the
Deport Elementary School from
1 to 3 p. m. sponsored by Lamar
County Medical Society Execu-
tive Committee in cooperation
with Lamar County Health De-
partment and Region 7.
Children who have never had
the polio vaccine and who have
never completed a series of three
<iost\s and 1 booster houl'i hava
the vaccine. Children who should
not have the vaccine are those
who have already completed the
immunization program, children
with fever, vomiting or diarrhea.
This clinic is for familiees who
cannot arrange to obtain the vac-
cine from a family physician.

Christmas Party
The Fulbnght WHD Club met
at the Community Center Thurs-
day. Dec. 10 for their usual meet-
ing, also a covered dish luncheon
and Christmas tree and program.
Meeting was called to order by
Mrs. Roy Legate. Opening pray-
er was by Mrs. M. B. Lee.
Mrs. Earl Legnte and Mrs. Roy
Legate had charge of the pro-
gram. Scripture was read and
a song sung that corresponded
with it. Mrs. Beth Panoheim
gave the.story of the Little Shoe
Cobbler. After the program,
games were played until noon.
Lunch was served to eighteen
members and four guests, the
two agents. Mrs. Dannheim and
Miss Flo Jusper, Mrs. Wheel"*-
Embrey and the little grandson
of Mr*. J. D Alley. Mr*. Km
brey was welcomed as a new
men her. After lunch the gifts
w> re distributed from the tree.

The Prairiland Scnool has rc
cognized the need for helping
meet the nutritional reeds cf
children, and served a wcll-l>ai-
anced nutritious lunch each full
school day. The lunch is seived
at 12:00 noon and is planned to
provide from l/8 to % of the
nutrients boys and gills need
each day. We always serve meat
or a meat alternative, two vege-
tables or one vegetable and one
fruit or two fruits, bread, butter
and milk, and. as frequently as
possible, a dessert the children
will enjoy. The food is whole-
some, well piepared, and served
in an appetizing manner. The
charge to students who can af-
ford to pay is 35c. To meet your
children’s nealth needs we would
like to encourage your children
to eat lunch at school eacn day.
We believe the lunch is whole-
some, nutritious and a bargain.
And we invite you to visit the
school and see our lunch service.
However, since some families
may find it difficult to pay the
full price for their children’s
lunches, we will provide these
lunches free or at a reduce ' price
to those children whose- far.ii i-.*s
cannot affoid to pay the full
price.
Children from wtmiliea whose
income meets those indicated on
the attached charts are eligible
to receive lunches free or at a
reduced price.
In deciding if your children are
eligible for either a free or a

Bronze Star Medal
Army Captain Peter J. Broad-
"*ay, 29, whose mother. Vn
Broadway, and wife, Ur-
sula. live on Kt. 2, Paris, recent-
ly received the Bronze Star Med-
al near Song Be Vietnam.
He was presented the Bronze
Star Medal for di-*ti> guishing
himself though meritorious ser-
vice in connection with military
operations against hostile forcer
in Vietnam. The medal, adopted
in 1JI4, recognizes outstanding
achievement. Ci.pt Broadway re-
ceived the award while assigned
as Executive Officer of Company
B, 15th Medical Battalion, lot
Cavalry Division .Air-Mobile).
The Captain entered the army
in Fcbrunry 1907 and was last
stationed in Germany. He atec
holds the Army Commendatfam
Medal and the Combat Medical
Badge.
The Captain is a 19fi0 graduate
of Detroit High School. He re-
ceived his B. A. Degree ia IM4
from East Texas State Univer-
