then served as a warrant officer in the
Navy for five years during World War II.
Then In 1946 he returned to his alma

named Coach of the Year in 1950 and again
in 1952.
"I though I was going to coach the rest of
my life." said Beauchamp But when
President Don H. Morris had asked John
C Stevens to become assistant president
in 1930 that left the school in need of a dean

than it was when he came here in 1937 and
there were 560 students he said But. he
added. "The attitudes of the students
haven't changed . Students are
friendly and interested in their fellow
students."
Many time he says students just show
up at his door "to visit to borrow money or
to talk about personal problems." The
thing that has kept him at ACU so long he
says is "the people and a love for
students "
Beauchamp said he plans to remain in
Abilene even after he retires. He said he
doesn't want to move away as some people
do "I want to remain right here." he said
"My love is Abilene Christian Univer-
