Local Oilman Accused Of Oil Road Crew Man
Diversion Injured While Working
on Route 25
By James H. Cooper, Editor/Archer County Advocate
f - T1
■j
Six million is being sought
along with, exemplary or puni-
tive damages, interest, court
cost and attorney fees, in a suit
brought against local Archer
City Oil Tycoon. The Archer
County Jury began its delibera-
tions on Friday October 21st
regarding the allegations
brought forth in this civil court
case.
Joyce Strange sued W.L.
Lindermann better known as
“Rusty” accusing him and his
Company the W.L.
Lindermann Operating Com-
pany of fraudulently making off
with Oil from leases and divert-
ing oil into neighboring oil leases
where profits would be higher
for him. This is according to
court documentation.
Jurors began their delib-
erations at 2 p.m. on Friday the
21st of October in the 97th Dis-
trict Court at the Archer County
Courthouse. Neither set of at-
torneys would comment on the
proceedings.
Ms. Strange who presides
over the D.D. Strange Lease
and the O’Keefe lease filed suit
both as an individual and as a
trustee for the Joyce Strange
Marital Trust. She claims that
she is entitled to a share of the
oil and gas royalties for the
Strange lease which covers
some 80 acres inside Archer
County. She also claims that
she is entitled to a share of the
oil and gas royalties for the
O’keefe lease as she owns a
percentage of the working in-
terest in it.
Rusty Lindermann and the
W.L. Lindermann Operating
Company have held the lease
and operated the Strange lease
since its beginning, as well as the
oil and gas leases for the lands
adjoining it and those that
tapped into the oil producing
formation of the O’Keefe lease.
Mr. Lindermann and his
company were also entitled to
royalties from these two leases
but he and other family mem-
bers owned a much larger op-
erating percentage in two of
the other neighboring leases
named Powell and Hoff. Be-
cause of its larger share in
those two leases the W.L.
Lindermann Company and
Rusty Lindermann began to
limit the production on the two
leases in question.
Allegedly they injected
water into the production pro-
cess forcing the oil to migrate
over to the Powell and Huff
leases. They then produced
the oil from these two leases.
In doing this they were less-
ening the oil production for the
Strange and O’keefe leases
and were diverting oil from
them which is a clear breach
of their commitment to Joyce
Strange, all of this according
to the documentation for the
suit. No criminal charges have
been brought forth however in
this lawsuit she is accusing
Rusty Linermann and the W.L.
Lindermann Company from
Archer City of civil theft.
It will be interesting to
see the outcome of this case
and we will inform you in up-
coming issues.
