Editor's Note
Again with the changes! The Conclave was such a delight that the Board accepted
the idea of shifting printing times by one month so that the meeting could be adequately
covered-thus this issue comes in November. (This is a moot point for 2009, but we
won't shift again.) It was grand seeing old members and meeting new ones. Hopefully
the economy will settle down by next year so that more people will have an opportunity
to come, meet other members, and to be enticed by dealers' and publishers' wonderful
offerings.
Julian is taking respite from the Miniature Book News. Between hosting last year's
Conclave and publishing Miniature Books: 4000 Years of Tiny Treasures with Anne
Bromer, he deserves a break and our thanks.

GBW-CBBAG Joint Meeting
The Guild of Book Workers (GBW) held its annual meeting, "Excellence in Hand
Bookbinding" in Toronto, Oct. 16-18. This was a joint meeting with the Canadian
Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild (CBBAG), which was celebrating its 25th
anniversary. The majority of the nearly 200 registrants were from the U.S. Along with
seminars and field trips, a book fair and auction, a number ofvendors offered bookbinding
materials, paper and tools. Mary Devenyi represented miniature books by exhibiting
several of her works.
Notes from the Conclave...
THURSDAY, SEPT. 11
Early attendees were able to visit Karen Nyman's wonderfully situated home for a
wine & cheese get-together as well as dinner at the San Diego Yacht Club (the first
club of many in the area).
