Dear Member,
At this stage of the game, it pays to be blunt: It's now
or never for our recommended candidates.
For those of you who have yet to choose which candidates
to support with your contributions -- now is the time. With
the election just four weeks away, you must make your choices
and write your checks today if your investment in the Victory
Fund idea is to pay off.
For those of you who have already written two or more
checks to recommended candidates -- now is your chance to be a
hero. Your willingness to go beyond the minimum will help us
win the maximum number of races on November 3rd.
In the pages that follow are nine "capsule" profiles of
our recommended candidates. Many are there because the Victory
Fund and its members helped them win tough primaries. Now we
have to help them go the next round.
On November 4th, our community will begin a new chapter in
its history. If the election goes one way, it could be a
thrilling chapter of inclusion, progress and success. We could
have a White House that respects us, a military that includes
us, and a government that wants us to live. We could also find
ourselves as many as nine rungs further up the ladder of
elective power if our openly gay and lesbian candidates win.
But if the election goes the other way... Well, that's a
prospect most of us don't even want to think about. But we
know in our hearts that most of our dreams will have to be put
on hold once again, and we'll be waking up to more political
nightmares reported in the daily newspapers.
You have the power to affect the outcome. That's why the
Victory Fund was created, and it's why you chose to join. You
have the pen, the checkbook, the money, and the vision to make
a difference. You also have the choice, right now.
It is entirely up to you. Choose well. And good luck to
all of us on November 3rd.
Sincerely,
William Waybourn
