all of the guests present on a trip

assistant professor of education
and psychology, Dr. Mack
McLeon presented, the idea to the
elementary advisory council of
the TEC. McLeod is a professor of
education and psychology at TSU,
According to Ms. Fletcher,
there is a trend in education
across the country to get students
involved much earlier with
chjjjh^n in. actual field experience.
•'Slip addpd that,Tarleton students
have had experience teaching their
peers, and observing a,ctual
teaching, but that they receive no-
field experience until they begin
student teaching.
The program -has been
successful for everyone involved,
Ms, Fletcher said. During the
student evaluation of Ed. 4123
students expressed, without an
■ exception, a sense of growth and
appreciation because of the
experience, she added. She said
the program has also been popular
with elementary teachers and
students.
Even 'though the students in
Ed! 4123 were the only ones who
participated in the program, Ms.
Fletcher said students in other
courses might participate in
conceptual teaching in the future.
The' program might be started
earlier next time in order to give
students more "time to plan and
evaluate it.
