SCHOOL BOARD
CARROL HUTSON - I would like to thank the voters for
their support in re-electing me to the School Board. I am
very optimistic about the coming year and am pleased with the
progress shown by the School Board in the past. I would
like to assure the parents in the area that their children are our
main interest as School Board members and would like to in-

Completion of the Little Elm High School is almost a
reality. The new school is something we can all be proud of,
our School Board has worked very hard on this project and
they should be commended for their fine job. It will give our
children a modern facility and the room that is needed to pre-
sent a proper environment for learning. Only a few minor
details are standing in the way of completion and these should
be finished soon. Classes will begin at the new school shortly
after Easter vacation, and since a twelfth grade has been added
this year, the new school will graduate its first class this
Spring.
An open house is planned to acquaint area residents with
the new facility as soon as possible after classes begin in the
school. The school was designed not only to be a house of
learning, but also to be a center for community functions. The
new gymnasium will not only play host to a wide array of
sports events for the school, but will be available for public
entertainment and events as well.
The Texas School Accreditation Team was in town this
past month checking our present school system and indica-
tions are that they were pleased with their findings, so we
should have a fully accredited school system soon. This is of
great importance in that an accredited school system is en-
titled to more funding than a non-accredited system.
Voters made their way to the polls Saturday, April 6th, in
Little Elm to elect three City Councilmen and two School
Board Trustees. Both the City Council and School Board
races sparked much interest in the community since there were
six candidates running for three positions in the City Council,
and also six candidates for only two positions on the School
Board.
In the City Council Race, incumbent Harold Price led the
way with 65 votes. Buddy Gentsch and Fred McKany filled
the other two positions with 59 votes each.
The two positions on the School Board were filled by in-
cumbent Carrol Hutson receiving 79 votes and Carroll Howard
receiving 74 votes.
The Tide contacted the newly elected City Councilmen and
School Board members and received from them the following
statements:
CITY COUNCIL
HAROLD PRICE - I appreciate the voter’s confidence in
re-electing me as a member of their City Council. I assure
them that as a resident of Little Elm, the people and the
growth of the community are my main interest. And with any
decisions I make as a council member the future of Little Elm
will be the main factor.
FRED McKAMY - I would like to thank the voters for
making me a member of their City Council. I would like to
see more of the local residents take an active part in their city
government by attending the City Council meetings so they
can be aware of the decisions that are being made by their
City Council. My phone number is in the book and I urge any
interested citizens to feel free to contact me.
BUDDY GENTSCH - I would like to thank everyone for
their vote and assure them that as a member of the Council,
I will serve the people to the best of my ability. Any wishes of
the people within reason will be given my utmost attention.
