Thin school was renewed in 1961. The convent usd to be
near the Post Office and the school has always been in the
same place.2 6\ g h t s X.
1946-1947
The sisters arrived in Marfa on Au.ust 24, at 4 o'clock.
The members were Sister Virgilives (Superior); Sister Fridolena,
fourth and fifth grade teacher; Sister Lioba, housekepper; Sister
Magdalene; second and third grade teacher; Sister Evangel1
first grade teacher. Mother Virgilives, Sister MNag
d iid Sister Evangelista were new members of the cmm
nity. Registration was set for September 2 and 3, A hundred
and eighty six pupils registered for school. School started
on September 4. There was no school on September 11 and 12
because of a rodeo. On Deeember -8, a Christmas program was
held. A profit-of $324 was :ade and after all the expenses were
paid, they had 1284 clear. On Dec. 21, a Christmas tree was
set up for the children. The Knights of Columbia donated nuts
and candy. Mr Mendias of the New Star Grocery donated apples
and oranges. The children presented Father Henry with two
